5 Reasons you should consider using this graphic design tool
I’ve used Canva for a number of years now and when it comes to my work, I’d be lost without it. If you haven’t heard of Canva, it is a graphic design tool, set up with thousands of fonts, images and templates for you to make your life a whole lot easier.
So, let’s talk about why I love Canva…
1. You don’t have to pay to succeed
While there is an option to pay for a ‘Canva For Work’ account, in most cases there isn’t really a need to.
Obviously, the membership gives you access to a wider variety of features for more specialist purposes. This is a common pricing strategy. Many web tools are only useful up to a certain point without having to pay but this isn’t the case with Canva, which is why it is always what I first turn to when creating any sort of content; whether it be a Youtube thumbnail or a title for my blog post.
2. Sharing without the stress
Sometimes, trying to share a document with a group of people can be stressful, especially if you’re doing it over email and the responses get lost in your never-ending inbox.
Canva gives you the option to create a ‘team’ to share designs and folders with. This ensures that everything is being kept in the same place, with easy access.
3. Pre-defined social media sizes
Is there anything more annoying than posting a photo to social media and realising that the dimensions are completely wrong and you’ve ended up cutting half of your image?
It has happened to me many times in the past! That’s why Canva is great as it allows you to pick from pre-defined social media sizes to make sure you’re using the right size for your desired outcome.
4. Layout designs
You’ve heard of writer’s block? Well, ‘creative block’ is a thing: and it can be so frustrating when you’re trying to create content!
Once you’ve chosen your template for your work, Canva gives you hundreds of different options for potential layouts. Whether you’re going to stick to one of them or simply use it for inspiration, this has definitely helped me in the past when I’ve just not been sure about the direction I’m heading in with a piece of work.
5. ‘Your Brand’
It is common knowledge in marketing that consistency is key and that’s why, using the ‘Your Brand’ feature on Canva is a great way to be efficient when creating your content.
With the free account, you have the ability to store all of the colours you wish to associate with your brand in one place, which obviously saves a lot of time rather than trawling through a large colour palette. Then, with the ‘Canva For Work’ membership, you have the option to upload your logos and store your fonts all in one place.
